Rossi Kourounis is a home-grown registered Architect of the Northern Territory and the Principal of Rossi Architects. He has over 15 years’ experience working with various local architectural practices, construction companies & running his own practice. Rossi has covered a broad spectrum of residential, commercial and educational projects and prides himself on a functional design and detailed approach to architecture. Rossi is constantly pushing the boundaries on his creative style and in 2014 was awarded the NT Emerging Architects prize by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Northern Territory Chapter. He is known for his warm, approachable manner and passionately represents the interests of all Territorians in being an outspoken advocate across a wide range of public and private forums for better design outcomes in the Northern Territory.
Rossi Kourounis is the owner / operator and principal architect at Rossi Architects. Rossi has worked on a broad spectrum of projects across the built environment offering a robust foundation for the studio. Rossi being a proactive leader, always instils a collaborative approach, providing all team members a sense of ownership on each project, while facilitating and managing the studio outputs in order to meet the project program and milestones.
Maiya is enthusiastically enjoying her 3rd year at RA, mostly working on the Larrakia Cultural Centre as well as various other projects. She is typically involved from early stages of a project right through completion of documentation. She is growing experience in contract admin and on the pathway to registration. Maiya has recently taken on a leadership role to support RA’s team in various ways.
Maiya grew up in Innisfail the hot wet tropics of Far North Queensland and unofficial Art Deco capital of Australia. She has been fortunate enough to travel much of Australia and internationally. A passion for local heritage buildings, tropical design, human rights and public wellbeing lead to studying a Bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Queensland. While living on Palm Island her interests and fire for Indigenous Design was ignited around self-determination, public health, community welfare and climate/place responsive design. Her enthusiasm for practical, social, cultural and environmental design extends to all projects she is involved in.
Maiya has over 5 years of practicing architecture with additional years working and volunteering for UQ in teaching and communications engagement work, as well as Indigenous architectural research and outreach. While in the NT, she has been highly motivated by community architecture with main focuses on master planning local community hubs, various education projects (remote and local), feasibility and design brief developments for civic projects and the Larrakia Cultural Centre.
Maiya is also the Co-Chair of Emerging Architects & Graduate Network (EmAGN) for the NT and is thoroughly engaged in the advocacy opportunities and events to support the EmAGN demograph and other local architectural events.
When Maiya is not at work she is reading, gardening or being out in nature.
Originally from Germany, Helena has called Darwin home since 2007 where she has pursued her love for tropical architecture. She completed her Certificate IV in Residential Drafting in 2011 taking with her, amongst others, the prize for “Student of the Year”. In 2014 she went on to complete her Diploma of Building Design and Technology and has since worked for several architectural, consulting and building companies.
She has recently taken on a leadership role to support RA’s team in various ways and is currently undertaking studies to complete her architectural degree at Curtain University.
Helena makes the most of her German background in bringing an exacting attention-to-detail in her documentation of all her projects, be they early concept designs or final construction details. Helena’s passion for traveling locally and overseas for inspiration by other cultures, traditions and architecture fuels her creativity.
Maitrey is an architectural graduate who is inspired by the Australian Architectural industry. In his 3rd year of working at Rossi Architects, he has worked on a diverse range of building typologies which enhanced his understanding of functional and spatial requirements of each of the building typologies. Maitrey has a wide software palette and considerable experience to apply on projects from concept to construction documentation stage. He has also worked independently on commercial projects in intense, fast-paced work environments to meet project deadlines. 7 years of architectural studies and 2.5 years of experience in managing deadlines helps the office to keep project delivery on time. He is always interested to contribute, learn, and excel in Architectural Practice. On weekends he plays club cricket to restart his designing mind and brain.
After completing an Advanced Diploma of Building Design at Swinburne University of Technology in Victoria, Adaire relocated to Darwin to begin her new and exciting career with Rossi Architects. Since then, she has gained extensive experience in various residential, public and commercial projects.
Adaire thrives in maximising space, problem solving and producing 2 & 3D drawings of luxurious, sustainable and timeless projects. She has an excellent eye for detail and strives for distinction in all aspects of her work.
Her passion for improving accessible living is quickly growing as she gains more experience with designing and drafting spaces for people living with disabilities.
Outside the office, you may find Adaire attempting aerial yoga or rollerblading along the Nightcliff foreshore. (Her design skills are much better than her blading skills but she never gives up)
Ayman is an overseas architectural graduate and master’s degree holder who is passionate about Architecture and Urban design. Over the past fifteen years he has worked on a variety of residential, commercial, retail, and mixed-use developments. He has hands-on experience in architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and interior design. He can utilise a wide range of essential architectural and visualisations programs. He is a dynamic and ambitious architectural technician who possesses the design and development flair needed to plan, coordinate, and be involved in all phases of an architectural project. He maintains a continual interest in learning and developing throughout his career path.
Justine is an essential member of our team at ROSSI ARCHITECTS, serving as the diligent and detail-oriented administrative professional who keeps our office running smoothly. With her strong organisational skills and keen eye for accuracy, Justine ensures that our projects proceed efficiently by handling various administrative tasks. Her methodical approach and proactive mindset make her a reliable asset in maintaining operational effectiveness within our studio. 7+ years post graduate employment with a professional design practice
Registered architect of the Northern Territory (or ability to register from another state)
Solid design & documentation skills, with the ability to coordinate all aspects of a project from Schematic Design to Post Contract Administration ensuring compliance and standards are maintained.
Comprehensive knowledge in relevant Australian Standards and National Construction Codes.
Strong technical knowledge and exceptional practical experience of Revit is essential.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to coordinate sub consultants and provide assistance to the team.
Experience with residential, commercial, and educational projects is an advantage.
Strong time management skills with ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload across multiple projects.
Strong ability to collaborate with the team.
